Engineering & Technical Evaluation

A clearer basis for a technical decision.

Before you commit, understand what you’re being offered. Make sense of equipment recommendations, technical proposals, and competing options before investing in the next step.

Does this sound familiar?

You may be looking for help because…

  • Two proposals recommend different solutions and are difficult to compare.
  • A recommendation sounds convincing, but its assumptions are unclear.
  • You want to understand equipment performance, operating costs, or system limitations.
  • You need help turning a technical document into questions you can act on.
How I would approach it

Start with the question. Follow the evidence.

I translate the decision into clear requirements, then examine the available specifications, proposals, records, and calculations. I compare the options on a consistent basis and look for omissions, unsupported assumptions, and tradeoffs that affect the choice. My commissioning and engineering background informs the questions I ask.

Useful work you can act on

What you could receive

The deliverables are agreed before work begins. Depending on your project, they may include:

  • A comparison of options against your stated needs.
  • A review of relevant assumptions, limitations, and available performance information.
  • A written list of gaps and questions for vendors or appropriately qualified professionals.
  • A reasoned recommendation, with the conditions and uncertainties that could change it.

A problem this service could help address

Two equipment proposals have different prices and different scopes. A review could put them side by side, identify what each actually includes, examine the operating assumptions, and prepare focused questions before you select a contractor.

Experience behind the approach

Technical depth. Clear explanations.

My background spans engineering, commissioning, technical review, and analytical problem-solving. I bring a structured approach to checking information and explaining what it means for the decision you face.

For a documented example of my investigative work, explore the Barker Square traffic-safety case study. It combines observations, video analysis, roadway review, spreadsheets, and a written report prepared for independent engineering review.

Consulting is primarily remote and based on the information available. Work requiring site inspection, testing, or a current professional license is scoped separately or referred to an appropriately qualified professional.

Tell me what you haven’t been able to resolve.

Describe the problem, what you have already tried, and the decision you need to make. I will review your inquiry and respond by email so we can determine fit, scope, and the next step.
